Monday, November 13, 2006 New measures to counter the threat of terrorism in UK are expected in the Queen’s Speech. Sir Ian Blair, Metropolitan police chief, in a speech in Berlin, highlighted the scale of disaffection among the Muslim community, pointing to reports that between 40,000 and 120,000 Muslims believed that the London bombings, when four British suicide bombers killed 52 civilians, were justified. He believed that this disaffection was related to the very negative way in which many in the Muslim community perceived the country’s foreign policy. This view had been expressed last month by Foreign Secretary Margaret Beckett and by the Head of MI5, Dame Eliza Manningham-Buller, earlier in the week. However, Prime minister Tony Blair contested the strong connection to foreign policy, saying that the problem has “grown up over a generation”. Sir Ian outlined where he thought new legislation was needed. Despite the fact that the…

Wednesday, March 14, 2007 In an interview on ESPN Radio, Pete Rose admitted to hosts Dan Patrick and Keith Olbermann that he “bet on [his] team every night” and admitted that the Dowd Report was correct in its assessment. Pete Rose was given a lifetime ban from any involvement in Major League Baseball in 1989. Rose accepted the lifetime ban in exchange for not returning a finding of fact that Rose did indeed bet on baseball. He initially indicated to MLB commissioner Bud Selig and in his book My Prison Without Bars that he did bet on Major League Baseball games, but that he never bet against his team or used his betting to influence the outcome of any game. The Dowd report concurs with this statement from Rose. Rose acknowledged his betting in the hopes that Selig would reinstate Rose and thus make him eligible for a number of…

Click Here To Know More About: Office Lockers Submitted by: Dean Mol When it comes to removals and storage, one of the last things that we want is to be stuck trying to figure out what to do when the movers finally get there. So the question is—what should you do in order to prepare for removals and storage? First of all, you should clean up. It may seem a little silly, but you have to understand that clean in isn’t the removals and storage company’s job—it’s yours. Chances are that if you don’t have everything at least reasonably squared away that they’ll have trouble getting everything packed up. Next, get rid of any junk you don’t want—before they come. Monday, August 3, 2009 Since declaring victory over the self styled “Black Taliban” last week, new accusations of extra-judicial killings and summary executions have been leveled against the Nigerian authorities. The allegations centre around the death of the charismatic leader Mohammed Yusuf of the Boko Haram sect and an unconfirmed number of his followers. Yusuf was captured after five days of violence which saw the shelling of the sect’s compound in Maiduguri and an extensive manhunt. New pictures have been revealed of Yusuf showing him shortly after his capture from a hole in the ground at a property owned by the family of one of his four wives. Shortly after the photograph was taken the bullet ridden body of Yusuf was shown to a television crew who had been expecting to interview him.
