Monday, March 20, 2006 The American NBC journalist and Hollywood actress Maria Menounos gave her first official press conference in Greece, as a presenter of the semi-final and the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2006,[1] which will take place in Athens on the 18th and 20th of May, 2006. Menounos, who is of Greek ancestry and speaks fluent Greek, arrived yesterday in Athens. Today, she talked about the presentation of the song contest and expressed her excitement about being in Greece. She will present the song contest along with the popular Greek pop star Sakis Rouvas. Before official confirmation by Greek National Television (ERT) of Menounos as the co-host of the contest, Greek media had reported the names of the famous actresses Jennifer Aniston and Monica Bellucci as possible presenters. The Eurovision Song Contest 2006 final and semi-final will take place in the Olympic Indoor Hall in Athens.

Friday, November 6, 2009 Sports memorabilia collector Zhao Xiaokai has amassed 5,000 condoms left over from the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and is offering them for sale at auction. Each condom is stamped with the motto of the Olympics in English and in Chinese: “faster, higher, stronger”. The Beijing Olympics condoms are offered for sale as part of an auction of Olympic memorabilia. Starting price is one yuan, which is equivalent to US$0.15 or £0.08. The condoms will be sold as a batch. “The move is to grab the attention of the public to promote the awareness of safe sex and the prevention of HIV/Aids.” The 5,000 Olympic condoms are the remainder of a 100,000 production run that were distributed free of charge to athletes who competed in the games. The species is the fourth forelimbs-only terrestrial tetrapods species known to science, and the first one which also has no fingers on the forelimbs. The species was collected at Marosely, Boriziny (French: Port-Bergé), Sofia Region, Madagascar. The Sirenoscincus mobydick name is after the existing parent genus, and a sperm whale from the 1851 novel Moby-Dick by Herman Melville. Wednesday, April 1, 2009 The United States government has filed a civil lawsuit against BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc. (BPXA) alleging that the company “violated federal clean air and water laws” by “illegally discharging” more than 200,000 gallons crude oil during two oil spills in 2006 on Alaska’s North Slope in Prudhoe Bay. BPXA previously pleaded guilty to one count of criminal negligence in illegally discharging the oil and paid US$20 million in damages. As a result of the plea, the lawsuit was filed saying that they “failed” to prepare for such a disaster by implementing “certain [sic] spill prevention measures” as the law requires.
